Codes in Qualitative Research

Dr. Susan Marcus mentioned how a code in qualitative analysis is most often a word or a short phrase that symbolically assigns a combined, and an essence-capturing attribute, for some portion of language, or visual data (Laureate Education, 2016). Data analysis is the most demanding and central aspect of qualitative research. Coding is one of the significant steps in data analysis and to organize and make sense of literal data. Coding in qualitative research inquiry is described as often a word or phrase that ideally explain a summary of some parts and parcel of visual or language data (Saldaña, 2016).

My role and experience in data collection process is the ability to review professional ethics, credibility, and its impact to positive social change. Data coding and analysis is an important part of undertaking qualitative research (Saldana, 2016). Coding can be done in many forms, concepts and categories. The descriptions of coding is more like taking every bits of information and grouping them (Laureate Education, 2016). For example, coding can also be done using encrypted transcripts of data. Grouping in coding can be done to show similarities and differences about single variable, and topics of interest (Laureate Education, 2016). A grouping variable sorts data within data files into categories or groups.
